Two of the four rooms in this building are ones you come back to often enough for it to be worth counting. The Fugu Lounge pours from eleven until late, and the piercing room sees most people more than once. So there are two cards, and only two — the white one counts drinks, the black one counts holes, and neither of them is a plastic rectangle you will find in a coat pocket next winter. They install into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap and update themselves while you are still standing at the counter.

QUESTIONS · THE ONES WE ACTUALLY GET

Before you ask.

Do I need to install an app?

No. The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, both of which are already on your phone. There is nothing to download and no password to invent.

Can I hold both cards?

Yes, and plenty of people do. They count separately: drinks fill the Bone Card, piercings fill the Steel Card, and neither one slows the other down. Enrol twice, once for each.

What happens when the card fills up?

It tells you. The card reads “one drink, on the house” instead of a countdown, and it stays full until you claim it — so a reward can never quietly disappear because you kept drinking.

Once claimed, the card resets to zero and starts counting again from your next drink.

Do stamps expire?

No. A piercing in March still counts in December, and four drinks from last summer are still four drinks. We do not run a clock on them.

I lost my phone. Have I lost my stamps?

No. The count lives with us, not on the phone — the card in your wallet is a window onto it. Ask at the counter with the email address you joined with and we will reissue the card with everything on it.

Does a cocktail earn a stamp?

Yes. Every drink bought at the bar earns one, cocktails and guest taps included, and so do coffee and soft drinks.

The free drink itself comes from the standard list — house wine, draught, coffee or a soft. Cocktails and the reserve list sit outside it.

Does a jewellery change count as a piercing?

No, because we do not charge for it. Downsizes, jewellery swaps and the free healing check-ups are all part of the original piercing rather than a new one.

Surface, dermal and genital piercings do earn a stamp. They sit outside the free list, so the reward comes off the price as £45 instead.

Can someone else use my card?

The card is personal to you and holds no cash value. We are not going to interrogate a friend holding your phone at the bar, but a card being passed around a table is not what it is for.

What do you do with my email address?

We use it to issue the card and to find your count again if you lose the phone. It does not go on the newsletter unless you sign up for that separately, and it goes nowhere else at all.

Ask us to delete it and we will, along with the card.

Can I get a card without a smartphone?

Yes. Ask at the counter and we will keep your count against your name and email. You will not have the card in a pocket, but the stamps are just as real, and we can read your balance back to you whenever you ask.
